Melvin Carl Sexton Sr., 79 of Mason City, IA died on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at MercyOne North Iowa. There are no funeral arrangements planned at this time.

Melvin was born on January 13, 1943 in Mason City, IA to Carl and Irene R. (DeMAr) Sexton. He graduated from Mason City High School and has been a life-long resident of Mason City. On July 17, 1964 he was united in marriage to Linda (Hedrick) Sexton in Mason City and the couple had four children together. Melvin worked for 30 years at David Manufacturing in Mason City.

His hobbies included: wood crafting, puzzles/puzzle books, and playing his handheld solitaire game. Melvin enjoyed motorcycles and could often be found working on cars or tinkering out in his garage. His grandchildren all knew that “Papa can fix anything.” Melvin also liked watching Westerns and hanging out with his buddy, “Pacer,” the Parrot.

Those left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy include his wife, Linda Sexton of Mason City; children, Carl (Becky) Sexton of Des Moines, IA, Jim (Annette) Sexton of Lake Mills, IA, Melvin (Kim) Sexton Jr. of Mason City and Jennifer (Levi) Sexton of Mason City; brothers, Jerry and Raymond Sexton; sister, JoyAnn Campbell and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Rick Sexton and Betty Gallagher and grandson, Devin Sexton.
