MASON CITY – Police converged on a Mason City house Tuesday in search of a wanted man, and they got their suspect, along with what they describe as a “large amount of meth.”

On July 10, 2018, deputies and investigators with the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at 211 N. Jefferson Avenue in Mason City. The property owner, 56-year-old Jeffrey David Determan, was taken into custody on an outstanding federal arrest warrant for a supervised release violation by the US Marshals. Located during the search warrant was a large amount of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The case is still under investigation.

Police say that anyone with information in this case can call the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Clear Lake Police Department, Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, Mason City Police Department, North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force, The NCINTF Special Operations Group (Tactical Team) and the United States Marshalls, as well as the Clear Lake Police Department.

  1. Addiction is hell. Jeff is a nice man & always held down a job. He was a great co worker & friend. I hate how drugs have destroyed his life.

  2. must be some narcing going on but I hope they bust this town wide open. cant wait till all meth heads are busted,

    1. Tweekers use, get caught, then help ya “find” the sellers. Paranoia at best, they eventually will all take each other out.

  3. Long-term effects may include:

    Addiction
    Psychosis, including:
    paranoia
    hallucinations
    repetitive motor activity
Changes in brain structure and function
Deficits in thinking and motor skills
    Increased distractability
    Memory loss
    Aggressive or violent behavior
    Mood disturbances
    Severe dental problems
    Weight loss

  4. I kick myself daily for never having tried meth. It’s an action-packed video game inside your head.
