Meyer’s 13-point effort leads Iowa over Northwestern, 55-45, in Big Ten Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS – Former Mohawk Mackenzie Meyer’s 13 points led Iowa to victory over Northwestern in the Big Ten Tournament Thursday by a score of 55-45.

Meyer scored 13 points on 5-of-10 field goals. She also tallied 3 assists, 2 rebounds and a steal.

The Hawkeyes outscored Northwestern, 22-1, in the first quarter. In the last eight contests, Iowa has outscored its opponents, 169-88. Iowa is averaging 21.1 points in the first quarter and holding its opponents to 11.0 in the first 10 minutes.  Northwestern never led in the game.

Redshirt freshman Alexis Sevillian scored nine points in the fourth quarter.

Iowa improved to 23-21 in the Big Ten Tournament with a 55-45 win over Northwestern.

The Hawkeyes move on to face fourth-seed Minnesota on Friday. Tipoff is set for 1:30 p.m. (CT) from Bankers Life Field House in Indianapolis.
