MASON CITY – The Cerro Gordo County inmate found unresponsive in the detox cell on March 23, 2017, has been identified as Taras Devlin Roan, 54, of Mason City, Iowa. Roan had been arrested on the evening of March 22, 2017, by the Mason City Police Department for assault and public urination. Roan was the lone occupant in the detox cell, which is video monitored.
An autopsy was performed on March 25, 2017, by Dr. Francis Garrity from the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner. The cause of death has been determined to be heart attack, related to atherosclerosis disease. The manner of death was determined to be natural. There were no signs of trauma found at autopsy.
The DCI investigation determined there was no foul play involved in Roan’s death.
No further information will be released by state officials, and likely, local officials, as well.
Roan was arrested on multiple charges on the evening of March 22, after Mason City police were called to Kum Go, 1224 North Federal Avenue for a disturbance.

How many have to die in Cerro Gordo County jails before the Sheriff and chief Deputy are held accountable? Video monitors are there but a man in DETOX still dies. How does a jail cell with a locked door aid a man going through DETOX? Put him in a room,lock the door and hope he lives i guess! This law enforcement ‘team’ out there is getting to be quite a joke.

And Mr Arthur my take on reptiles comment may have been mis taken..I belief that reptile was lamenting the situation from a spot that Mr rohan was in just prior to his untimely death and was in so many words saying how sad it was and how very many people suffer this disease.

Yep. You got it. I was taking aim at the alcohol industry which lies to people through false advertising, and ultimately destroys their lives.

How does it feel to have proven my point on personal egos? Were you frustrated or upset before you commented? Or was it more of a need to correct me, so not all of you look bad? Just like the corruption in our government branches, claiming not all cops or judges are corrupt just means there are several non corrupt people allowing corruption to continue. Too weak minded and scared to stand up for the laws they swore to uphold. To stand up for what was right. Ones personal beliefs in what happens after death has nothing to do with who they are towards other people, places, and things. We have core morals that are taught through life experience, and personal comforts. My mother taught me to treat others how i wanted to be treated. That is really what it comes down to.

My dad and I have a good relationship. I used my father as an example of also being indocrtrinated like it sounds like you were. The christian God is very young compared to the other Gods worshipped today.
