Auditor says bad data on ballots causes need for re-print; cost is at least $8,000

MASON CITY – The Cerro Gordo County Auditor says bad data for ballots for the November 6 elections has caused a need for a re-print and the cost is at least $8,000 to the county.

According to a statement from acting Auditor Pat Wright:

Pat Wright, Treasurer and acting Auditor

The Deputy of Elections brought to my attention late yesterday that she made an error on the layout of the county auditor’s race on the General Election ballot. The Deputy of Elections is responsible for the layout of the ballot. After discussion with the Secretary of State’s office, we decided to exercise an abundance of caution and re-print the ballots. While I am acting Auditor under the Code of Iowa, I am not an Auditor. I am a Treasurer. In the absence of an elected auditor, I rely on the experience and professional competence of the deputies to manage the area of their expertise. However, an error was made, of which I was not made aware at the time the ballot was sent to the printer. We have taken the appropriate steps to correct it.

The reprinted ballots will be available on Monday, October 8th for the first day of absentee voting. Furthermore, we remain on schedule to mail absentee ballots on October 8th to every eligible voter that has requested one.

Sources tell NIT the cost to re-print ballots with correct information for the November 6 election in Cerro Gordo county will cost at least $8,000, plus the cost for the original ballots with faulty information.  The matter was brought to the attention of the NIT newsroom this morning by local Republican Party supporters, prompting follow-up questions to Auditor Wright and the later release of the above statement.

Pat Wright threw the Deputy Auditors right under the bus. Seems like a trend with her. I think the taxpayers should not vote for her in the next election.

1776 ! The JUDGE Kavanaugh will be confirmed about 4:53 PM TODAY ! Hell to pay for the demorat lieing bitches.

Take it out of their over paid salary. If i did my job even half as bad as our local goverment, id be fired pretty quick. Making excuses, and wasting money due to incompetence. If you can’t handle the job, step down. The issue is no one worth a shit will apply for the posistions.local pd doesnt file reports due to “paperwork”, the mayor hasn’t had a legitimate job in years, just likes leeching off of others like his wife does to mental patients in the area. The road construction companies hired by the city mess up, and just rebill for their mistakes. Ive seen the same areas of town dug up year after year. Our leaders ideas for growth involve doing business with people who have long track records of not paying taxes or taking care of their properties. Look at russ hardys rentals, matt dodge has two houses on north penn that destroy the value of my rentals ive stuck a lot of money into. Now imagine how many all over town that sit falling apart, that the city does nothing about. Someone else without friends in local government would get a warning for repairs and garbage, then would be fined. This city stays the way it is due to a lack of responsibility. Start treating everyone the same, and watch how things change. Until then, expect wasted taxes, and pipe dreams that never come into fruition.

County Officials are overpaid – are correct but the taxpayer needs to stand up and demand that their money be compensated back to the people rather than bitch and complain about it online. What are you the taxpayer going to do about it? We all need to hold them responsible. Start writing and request action be taken. Impeach the Treasurer and Auditor? Is that even possible?

Wright signed off on this making it her responsibility. More sloppy work by her.

She was paid to be Acting Auditor was she not? – so she is responsible. It was not forced upon her to take on the Acting Auditor position. She needs to answer to the people and get that money back to the people or resign. Ask for Pat Wright’s resignation. Write a letter to the Board of Supervisors and ask for Pat Wright to resign. Its your money she is playing with.

But then again – why didn’t she look ate the ballots before printing – oh! just put the bleme game on others – thet’s the liberal point of view as Kieth Elison the pervert would say.

You’re such a dumbass

And, he failed English class!

Says the Grammar NAZI-And, no one cares.

Geeeez ! You don’t think the democrats had anything to do with this ? Heaven forbid they would consort to evil doing’s to get the POWER!

And yet again, you’re such a dumbass

Is anybody going to the curries union meeting today
@ the Holiday in express???

In typical fashion, Pat is blaming someone else for what went wrong. Same things happened in the Treasurers office. Despicable!

No charges filed, no reprimand, = not guilty.

Why blame her. She looks good and it is not her job. She is Treas not Auditor.

Workers in the Auditor’s office that are responsible for the proof reading these ballots, should be reprimanded for this mistake. Why should tax payers have to pay for this.

Political preference has nothing to do with it, and you should know that. But, from trying to read your posts, I can understand why you might think that way.

Wright is a died in the wool Democrat !! She threw Natasha Lewerke under the bus when she worked for her in the Treasurer’s office. And, has to continue to blame the staff, now in the Auditor’s office. The buck stops at the top. She has not learned that in all the years working for the county. She needs to go. She could kept the story professional, but that is not her style. Always a jab or a snippy remark. Shes a no count.

So the people need to stop electing Patty Wright no matter what the circumstances.
