CHARLES CITY – A Charles City woman is guilty of stealing in Mason City and was arrested by police after another incident of driving while suspended.
On October 12 at about 9:48 PM, Charles City police stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Milwaukee Mall. After an investigation, the driver, 27-year-old Brienna Kerlin was arrested for driving while suspended, no insurance and no registration.
Kerlin was charged by Mason City police with fifth-degree theft after an alleged incident on December 26, 2015. She earlier pleaded not guilty. However, in June, she entered a guilty plea. She was ordered to pay $478.50 in fines and court fees.
Also, in August, Kerlin pled guilty to first-offense possession of methamphetamine. She was sent to jail for two days and ordered to pay $862.81 in fines and court costs. At the same time, she was found guilty of fourth-degree theft after a charge was brought by the Floyd county sheriff’s office. She was sent to jail for 7 days and ordered to pay $1,216.56 in fines , court costs and restitution. Tacked on were charges of disorderly conduct and violation of a no-contact order. Two more days in jail were added, plus $618.75 in fines and court fees.
