Man caught by troopers with weed sent to jail

MASON CITY – A man caught by the Iowa State Patrol with marijuana was sent to jail.

Douglas Eugene Whitfield, age 34, was stopped by the Iowa State Patrol for speeding – at a rate of 20 miles per hour over in a 55 miles per hour zone – on July 16 in Cerro Gordo County. During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered marijuana and Whitfield was arrested and charged with first offense possession of marijuana.

Whitefield pled guilty to that charge on November 4 and was sent to jail for two days and ordered to pay $1,660.25 in fines and other fees.
