MASON CITY – A St. Ansgar man who police said was picking fights during the Ragbrai festival in Mason City has pleaded guilty to a charge of public intoxication.
Cerro Gordo county deputies who were busy patrolling downtown Mason City on the evening of July 24 arrested 18-year-old Timothy Cyrus Arndt of St. Ansgar a 11:10 PM, just as the live music show was ending downtown. Arndt was at the corner of North Washington Avenue and 1st Street NW, very close to the beer tents, allegedly drunk and “trying to start fights”.
Police loaded Arndt into a squad car and took him to jail, charged with public intoxication.
On September 23, Arndt pled guilty and was ordered to pay $195 in fines and court fees.
Tim Arndt has already made his acquaintance with Mason City police. He was arrested on April 9th, charged with interference with official acts and disorderly conduct (abusive epithets and threatening gestures). He pled guilty to those charges and was assessed $651.75 in fines and fee, but has yet to make a single payment.
