DES MOINES – An Iowa man who hid cameras in his house to film nude teens and children was sent to prison this week.
Judge John A. Jarvey imposed an 8-year sentence on 72-year-old James Wiley Brock of Newton for creating pornographic images by taken hidden images of people using a tanning bed and a pool at his house. Brock was also ordered to give up his home and the equipment he used to produce the images.
Brock’s home was raided in July of 2013, and law enforcement discovered more than a thousand recordings of people and children undressing. Apparently, Brock owned a tanning bed and a pool that people would use from time to time. According to the Newton Independent, police were contacted initially by “a parent of a juvenile in regard to the possible recording of minors in the nude. During the investigation, Newton Police investigators were provided with pictures of the interior of the residence that depicted numerous video monitors with cameras pointing into a tanning bed, showers and other rooms within the residence, as well as VHS tapes in a secured room.”
The case was investigated by the United States Department of Homeland Security/Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Newton Police Department, and the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
