Mason City men nabbed in burglary investigation spanning multiple counties and three states

KOSSUTH COUNTY - After a small, Northern Iowa gas station was robbed last month, authorities in multi counties in Iowa as well as in Nebraska and Minnesota worked together to investigate multiple alleged crimes and zero in on two men in Mason City who are now behind bars.

KOSSUTH COUNTY – After a small, Northern Iowa gas station was robbed last month, authorities in multi counties in Iowa as well as in Nebraska and Minnesota worked together to investigate multiple alleged crimes and zero in on two men in Mason City who are now behind bars.

On August 10, 2023, Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary that occurred at Gold Eagle Co Op in Titonka Iowa. Deputies responded to the area and began an investigation. That same night burglaries occurred in Winnebago County, Iowa, and Faribault County, Minnesota. After a detailed investigation working with multiple agencies throughout Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa, investigators developed individuals suspected of multiple burglaries in Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa. Otoe County, Nebraska investigators wrote a search warrant for a residence in Mason City, Iowa, and an arrest warrant for 33-year-old Shawn Boger of Mason City, Iowa. The search warrant was presented to the Kossuth County Iowa Sheriff’s Office, who used the Otoe County search warrant along with information gathered by Kossuth County deputies to obtain a Kossuth County search warrant.

On September 5, 2023, law enforcement agencies from Iowa, Minnesota, the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office, and Cass County Sheriff’s Office served the Kossuth County and Otoe County search warrants at a residence in Mason City, Iowa. As part of the search warrant, Shawn Boger was arrested on arrest warrants from Kossuth County and Otoe County. Warrants were issued for Jeremy Soesbe of Mason City for third-degree burglary and ongoing criminal conduct, a class B Felony. Boger was also issued an additional warrant for ongoing criminal conduct, a class B Felony. Soesbe was found and arrested in Mason City on Kossuth County warrants. Soesbe and Boger are currently being held at the Kossuth County Jail.

Investigators in Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota are continuing the investigation into the other individuals suspected in participating in the burglaries. Law enforcement officials from Cass County Nebraska, Otoe County Nebraska, Faribault County Sheriff Office MN, Floyd County Sheriff Office Iowa, Winnebago County Sheriff Office Iowa, Webster County Sheriff Office Iowa, Iowa DCI, Iowa DOI, Mason City PD, and SOG (Special Operation Group) helped in the execution and investigation.
