Statement by the President on the Occasion of Ramadan:
On behalf of the American people, Michelle and I extend our best wishes to Muslim communities here in the United States and around the world on the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan.
A time for self-reflection and devotion through prayer and fasting, Ramadan is also an occasion when Muslims around the world reaffirm their commitment to helping the less fortunate, including those struggling because of economic hardship and inequality. Here in the United States, we are grateful to the many Muslim American organizations, individuals, and businesses that are devoted to creating opportunity for all by working to reduce income inequality and poverty, not only through their charitable efforts, but also through their initiatives to empower students, workers and families with the education, skills and health care they deserve.
Ramadan also reminds us of our shared responsibility to treat others as we wish to be treated ourselves and the basic principles that bind people of different faiths together: a yearning for peace, justice, and equality. At a moment when too many people around the world continue to suffer from senseless conflict and violence, this sacred time reminds us of our common obligations to pursue justice and peace and to uphold the dignity of every human being.
As I’ve done every year as President, I look forward to welcoming Muslim Americans from across the United States to the White House for an iftar dinner. It will be another opportunity for me to convey America’s appreciation for the contributions of Muslim Americans to our country and to wish Muslims around the world a month blessed with the joys of family, community, peace and understanding. #maybe: The United States Military needs to modify their enlistment criteria and begin interviewing candidates based on their intelligence levels, ethics and morality, and creative solving abilities… not on their ability to follow orders mindlessly, or their willingness to kill and destroy. They also need to modify and better define their overall mission statement. Then civilian leadership needs to create mission plans for them that work, and don’t use up lives needlessly.
I have no problem with the idea of the US Military becoming the world’s policemen,IF they are actually trying to install Universal Human Rights as the predominate mission statement, and IF the United States at home, would obey and live by them. It’s impossible to police others when you cannot solve your own problems domestically. It’s fine the military needs an energy source, but it’s not fine they work on behalf of private energy companies. Does anyone trust a redneck southern Jarhead?

The military has no need for thinking, caring people, with intelligence. I’m not going to be accepted into such an organization. CO orders me to do something, and I’m going to need to know why, and if I don’t agree with it, I wouldn’t do it. SIMPLETONS are what the military wants. FATCA was a law that was passed and signed by Obama in 2010 that will go into effect july 1st 2014. No conspiracy at all but fact and you you don’t believe it then that’s too bad, you will be the first ones gone.
Every expert that I have talked to says IF it does happen it will be between august 1st and December 1st.

You would think so but what my financial advisor says and at least a dozen more have said that the consequences of the foreign bank not complying would result in sanctions against them, eventually they will drop the US dollar as the reserve currency which will be disastrous here in the states.
@maybe-Not only here is the states will it be disasterous, but in Japan, China North Korea, Mexico and lots of other country’s around the world will suffer. There is a huge movement in Europe to replace the dollar with the Euoro. The way I read the law just states that it will be much more difficult to hide your wealth off shore. My point above is that I don’t trust the reasons our military operates under, and it’s not poised to really do the job that needs to be done. Why start something half assed with corrupt management calling the shots?
