AMES – A man is wanted in connection with a locker room theft during the Iowa Hawkeye – Iowa State Cyclone football game that was played in in September.

According to the Iowa State University Police Department, “arrest warrants have been issued for the suspect in the Hawkeye locker room theft case. We have reason to believe the suspect has left the country.”

Rob Bowers, associate director of Iowa State’s Department of Public Safety, told the Iowa City Press-Citizen Monday that warrants for second-degree theft and second-degree burglary were issued Dec. 12 for Nicholas Vincent Beary, 23, whose last known residence was in West Des Moines. It was also reported that Beary is a former University of Iowa student.

University of Iowa officials reported that nine victims suffered thefts of cell phones and/or approximately $50 in total after the rivalry football game which was played September 14th.

Online records indicate that search warrants against Beary were executed in Story county on October 11th, October 16th, October 23rd and again on November 5th.

An investigation has been on-going by ISU Police.  The ISU Athletics Department said after the incident that it would reimburse those who suffered losses.
