Winnebago River canoe float set for August 24th

MASON CITY – The Cerro Gordo County Conservation Board and Lime Creek Nature Center are holding a canoe float on the Winnebago River on Saturday, August 24 from 1 – 4 p.m.

The six-mile float will begin at Averydale Access near Mason City and end at Claybanks Forest, a trip that will take approximately three hours. A limited number of canoes will be available for use, or participants may bring their own canoes or kayaks. Participants will need to arrange for their own transportation back from the take out point.

Beginning canoers are required to attend a basic canoeing session on Monday, August 19 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Lime Creek Nature Center.

Registration is required by Friday, August 16 – please call 641-423-5309. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
