MASON CITY – Mason City police officers responded to a possible shots fired incident in the 300 block of 14th St. S.E. on Saturday, June 29th at about 6:30 PM.

Officers arrived on scene a short time later to investigate the alleged shooting.  At that time they learned from witnesses that a male subject fled a residence, located 309 14th St. S.E. stating that he had just shot a subject inside.  Officers made entry into that residence to search for potential injured subjects.  During that time they discovered a spent shell casing and damage to the structure from someone discharging a handgun inside.

During the course of the investigation it was determined that a disturbance between a group of people had occurred with one unknown male subject threatening another male with a handgun.  It was at this time that the unknown male discharged a handgun and then fled the property on a bike. Officers did learn that no one was shot during the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.  The Mason City Fire Department assisted at the scene.

    1. If you’re going to ask a question, make it relevant to the article. If you’re going to ask something that stupid, you might as well as the price of rice in Tel Aviv or the cost of lettuce in China.

      1. It was a comment as to how the media reports things differently depending on the part of the town. The fact that it took so long to get on this page summed it up. Even the Globe had it on before.
