HAMPTON – The Franklin County Fair officially kicked of Wednesday, and there was plenty to do before that and yet this week.

On Monday there was an Open Class Entry for 4-H and FFA in the Cultural Center. On Tuesday, there was livestock entry and the fair parade sponsored by Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce. On Wednesday there was the Figure 8/Cruiser Car.

“The Franklin County Fair is always good,” said Hampton resident Kandi Borcherding. “The turnout will all depend on the weather. It might be too hot for some people to go out and enjoy it. My daughter is there now, she’s twelve, the weather don’t bother the kids.”

Starting tonight (Thursday), the Barnes PRCA Rodeo starts at 7:00 pm. The Oak Ridge Boys will perform Friday at 8:30 pm and Rodney Atkins will perform Saturday at 8:30 pm. Vaters Monster Motorsports will entertain at 6:00 pm on Sunday.

Something new this year will be the beer garden. The beer garden opens one hour before the grandstand show and only is available during the time of the shows.

Admission to the grandstands is $45, and will allow entry to all grandstands shows. Kids 5 and under are free.

Besides the grandstands, the Franklin County Fair offers many other entertainments, sites and fun things to do.

The fair location is at the Franklin County Convention Center And Campgrounds, 1008 Central Avenue West, in Hampton.
