MASON CITY – Much of North Iowa is under a hazardous weather outlook, just as Band Fest festivities are set to kick off.

According to the National Weather Service in Des Moines, expect rain this afternoon and tonight.

Thunderstorms are expected to intensify late this afternoon and evening.  Large hail is a possibility, along with possible high winds with a potential to cause damage, the report states.

Soil conditions do not favor flooding, the agency says.

The Dweebs are set to play in East Park at 6 PM and the carnival is all set up, so pack an umbrella as you head to East Park.

There is a good chance of thunderstorms Saturday as well, before the foul weather heads out on Sunday.
