MASON CITY – Tuesday morning, a short strip of one of the east bound lanes on 19th Street SW was blocked off in front of AGP, Ag Processing, Inc.
AGP hired McKiness Excavating Inc. to take down their old wooden bridge.
At first, a person couldn’t tell if it had collapsed or if they were tearing it down. “The wood was rotting. It’s an old bridge, all wood, and we were hired to bring it down,” said Bob, and employee of McKiness.
“Another employee said, “Yes, it’s a mess. We’ll get it cleaned up.” When asked if another bridge was going to be built, he said, “No, they’re not going to rebuild.”
Bob confirmed this by adding, “They going to leave it open, with no bridge. They have the newer entrance to use.”
