Ashley Marlow, 27 of Burt, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024, at her home. She was a member of the Burt Presbyterian church.

SIOUX CITY – Thomas Alan Newman, age 60, from Swaledale, Iowa, received a 6-year prison term after an October 18, 2023, guilty plea to Possession of Child Pornography.
NIACC’s Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center to Host Youth Entrepreneurial Academy in June
The Youth Entrepreneurial Academy is a free event for participating students. Students will have the opportunity compete for $500 in business seed money.

Phyllis Anne Opkis, 81 of Nora Springs, IA passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Major Erickson Funeral Home.
Mason City to hold groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday morning for Prairie Rock Trails System/Riverhawk Trail

College Baseball: Hawkeyes split Sunday games with Nebraska
LINCOLN, NEBRASKA – The University of Iowa baseball team split a pair of games with Nebraska on Sunday afternoon at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park. Iowa lost the first game, 12-2, in seven innings before winning the nightcap, 4-1.
Mason City street to be closed this week for utility installation
