Mary Fay Frederick, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away April 26, 2024, at the age of 98 in Mason City, Iowa. She was born on October 11, 1925, in Boone, Iowa, to parents Vernon and Bertha (Hughes) Maynard.
Mary’s life was one filled with love, compassion, and dedication to her family. She graduated from Boone High School and went on to marry the love of her life, John A. “Jack” Frederick, on October 12, 1957, in Boone, Iowa. Together, they embarked on a journey that took them from Boone to Rockford for 8 years before eventually settling in Mason City.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she cherished her close relationship with each one, no matter the distance. In her earlier years, she found solace and joy in being outdoors, working in her yard, and going for walks.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Bertha Maynard; husband Jack Frederick; brothers John Maynard and Richard Maynard; daughter-in-law Patricia Sadler, and grandson John Sadler.
She is survived by her children, Michael Sadler and Linda (Richard) Kaduce; grandchildren, Patrick, Kathleen (Jason), Thomas, Shannon (Jason), Angel, and Destiny; granddaughter in law, Suzanne; great-grandchildren, Ayaan, Lahna, William, and Meadow; brothers, Thomas and Robert Maynard; many nieces and nephews; and other extended family members.
A woman of grace and strength, Mary’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers and staff of the IOOF Home for their exceptional care of Mary, as well as the nurses and doctors of MercyOne North Iowa Hospice.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Mary’s life will be held 1:00 pm Friday, May 3, 2024, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street NE, Mason City. Burial will follow in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mary’s family will greet relatives and friends beginning one hour prior to her service at the funeral home on Friday.
