Randy Arnold Sobolik was born on September 20, 1970, in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Arnold and Wilma (Hrdlicka) Sobolik. Throughout his life, Randy worked as a welder for Featherlite Trailers and Alum-Line Inc., a trade he truly enjoyed. Most recently, he was a familiar and friendly face at Fisk Farm & Home, where he enjoyed helping customers and was known for handing out candy to the kids who stopped by. Randy was the kind of man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand and would gladly give you the shirt off his back. He was rarely seen without a smile on his face and almost always had a joke ready to share. He even enjoyed helping cutting trees on his day off.
Randy appreciated the simple joys in life and felt most at home outdoors. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, getting his hands dirty in his garden, playing pool, collecting rocks, camping, & kayaking. He loved being with friends, family & his grandchildren. At home, he was rarely one to sit still for long, often finding projects to work on, tinkering in his garage, or tackling odd jobs around the house. You never know who’d stop by to chat. In the warmer months, he enjoyed grilling and spending his evenings out on the deck or a night out back playing some horseshoes. On Sundays, Randy often liked to take long drives, seeing where the road might take him or who he might run into along the way. Never ending up where he intended. When the day would wind down, he was just as happy relaxing with a glass of whiskey in hand. Maybe even watching Wheel of Fortune or the Green Bay Packers. His other passion was with an extensive collection of American eagle statues and figurines proudly displayed throughout his home.
Above all else, Randy’s greatest joy in life was his daughter, Hayley. The two shared a special father-daughter bond filled with inside jokes, shared secrets, thrift shopping for Kirby vacuums, going to The Mint, plenty of good food & so many more adventures. More than anything, they knew they could always count on one another.
Randy is survived by the love of his life, his daughter, Hayley Sobolik of Cresco, IA; his granddaughter Rebel Rose Grotegut; siblings Dennis (Deb) Sobolik of Cresco, IA, Betty (Dan) Wilson of Wabasha, MN, Kevin (Diana) Sobolik of Lime Springs, IA, and Nancy (Kevin) Pecinovsky of Cresco, IA; nephews and niece Dustin (Mariah) Sobolik, Derek Sobolik, Walker Sobolik, Brandon (Shannon) Pecinovsky, and Nicole (Carter Fousek) Pecinovsky; step-daughter Bobbi Jo (Danny) Walker; step-grandchildren Brooklyn and Landon Walker; friend Tootie Sobolik; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Wilma Sobolik.
