Iowa man accused of smacking kid with sack of trash

SIDNEY, IOWA - In a performance that won’t be winning any "Father of the Year" trophies, a 34-year-old Iowa man found himself trading his domestic duties for a cramped cell at the local jail last week.  Camaron Jean Focht was arrested on the afternoon of March 26, 2026, after a security camera—the silent, digital snitch that never sleeps—allegedly caught him engaging in a parenting style best described as "sanitation-based assault."

SIDNEY, IOWA – In a performance that won’t be winning any “Father of the Year” trophies, a 34-year-old Iowa man found himself trading his domestic duties for a cramped cell at the local jail last week.  Camaron Jean Focht was arrested on the afternoon of March 26, 2026, after a security camera—the silent, digital snitch that never sleeps—allegedly caught him engaging in a parenting style best described as “sanitation-based assault.”

According to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation kicked off at 5:17 p.m. when deputies reviewed footage that would make even the most hardened social worker wince. The video reportedly shows Focht taking a full bag of household trash and, rather than placing it in a bin, using it to purposefully strike a small child. As if the “weaponized refuse” approach wasn’t enough, Focht then allegedly channeled his inner track-and-field star, stepping directly over the sobbing child and continuing on his way without offering so much as a backward glance or a Band-Aid.

Focht’s brief career as a garbage-tossing heavyweight was cut short when deputies arrived in Sidney to escort him to the Fremont County Jail. He was officially booked on a charge of Child Endangerment, proving that while the trash might eventually get picked up, a felony charge tends to linger a bit longer on the curb.

The stay in the “Fremont County Hilton” was short-lived, however. After less than 24 hours behind bars, Focht (pictured at top) managed to scrape together a cash bond and was released at 2:34 p.m. on March 27, 2026. While he is back out in the Sidney community for now, he’ll eventually have to explain to a judge exactly why he thought a toddler made for a suitable backstop for the weekly kitchen scraps.
