MASON CITY – Mason City police and other law enforcement were searching for a culprit involved in an apparent stabbing incident late Tuesday evening. At least one person was said to be seriously injured and was taken away in an ambulance.
The incident took place around 11 PM at 1220 10th Street NW. The property is owned by First Citizens Trust Company N.A. and David A. Vikturek.
Persons on the scene said the residence there had been “raided” by police just a month or so earlier.
It was said that a man had fled the scene and police were scouring the Central Heights neighborhood, searching for the suspect. Police were set up in strategic locations around the area.
At 1:35 AM, police had a house on South Grover Avenue surrounded.
Police confirmed Wednesday morning that a stabbing was reported at 10:52 pm, Aug 20, 2013, at 1220 10th NW. A male victim had serious wounds and was transported to Mercy ER. Victim is currently in stable condition.
At about 5 AM Wenesday morning, police surrounded a residence at 1916 South Grover Avenue.
The suspect in the stabbing incident, Fred Olson, 41, of Mason City, was found inside with a female subject. Olson was arrested on charges of attempted murder, 1st degree burglary, and interference with official acts. Olson was injured from the earlier alleged stabbing incident and was treated. The female who was with Olson at 1916 South Grover was released without charges at this time.
Suspected drugs and paraphernalia were found at the 1916 South Grover location. The investigation is on-going.

I live in this neighborhood it is on the end of my alley. We are getting sick of the activity that goes on in that place. Felix lived there and just got sent to prision for dealing Meth out of there, this was just a few weeks ago. We hope the new landlord law has some teeth in it and something can be done. It this case, it was the perp that broke in and harmed the resident but as I said, Felix is now in prison.

With the stabbings that have happened in the area, I think that we should ban all knives. You know that knives are just to dangerous laying around in kitchen drawers or garages, or wherever. I should get rid of my 60 year old pocket knife collection before they jump out of their boxes and hurt someone.

Our laws keep letting these people off with probation way to much let them sit in jail and think about it for about 6 months. I really wish we had the laws like they do in Saudi Arabia

Stronger the penalty the less chance of someone doin the crime. So I think punishments like other parts of the world would be great, they don’t mess around none of this slap on wrist crap.
