Gerald “Jerry” Christensen passed away unexpectedly on March 2, 2026, in Mason City, Iowa at the age of 76.

Gerald Gene Christensen was born on April 13, 1949, to Lorell Delphin and Reberta Marie (Ring) Christensen. He grew up in the Riceville area, where he attended school and graduated from Riceville High School.
He was united in marriage to Lori Jean Murphy on June 11, 2011, at Lake Hendricks in Riceville. The couple lived in Nora Springs, Iowa. They were so perfect for each other. They enjoyed spending time together and shared a lot of the same interests.
Following Lori’s passing in 2019, Jerry moved to Mason City. Jerry was proud of his apartment and took pride in keeping it clean. He was a Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching TV. His favorite shows included Oak Island, and an array of nature shows. Jerry kept a journal next to his chair, carefully mapping out what time his favorite programs would be on. He also enjoyed going for walks and participating in the community meals, where he could be found visiting with neighbors and friends and watching some of the group play cards.
Jerry always looked forward to spending time with family. It might be a birthday lunch at Applebee’s, a trip to McDonalds or heading to Walmart to go shopping. No matter what it was, he was always happy to join in. Jerry loved Christmas and the opportunity to stay overnight with family, which included the annual tradition of going out for pizza the day after Christmas.
Jerry is survived by his siblings: Dee Baldock of Oregon, WI, Dennis (Ann) Christensen of Riceville, Judy (Galen Mehl) Christensen of Lehigh, IA, Chris (Cindy) Christensen of Riceville and Sue Barnes of Independence, IA, several nieces and nephews and his stepmother Myrtle Linkenmeyer Christensen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lori and brother in-law Jon Baldock.
