Judith Lee Crecelius was born February 24, 1939, in Iowa Falls, a daughter of Dale and Kathleen (Horton) Crecelius. She grew up in Iowa Falls, graduating from Iowa Falls High School.
On June 21, 1957, Judy was united in marriage with Charles D. (Chuck) Nolte in Iowa Falls. Together they raised 3 daughters: Lynn, Lori and Christie. Judy was a deacon at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Mason City and Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield. She sang in the church choir as long as she attended church and had a beautiful voice. Judy grew up with a devotion to church and passed that onto her daughters, going to church was not an option for her family, it was what you did.
Judy worked as a paraprofessional at Mason City Schools and coached cheerleading. She loved playing golf and bridge with her family and friends. She was a very good golfer and was still beating her daughters well into her 80’s. In recent years she continued to play bridge, you could count on the Golf channel being on when you visited her home.
Judy is survived by her daughters: Lynn Nolte, Ames; Lori Nolte, Ames; Christie Moore, Belmond; grandchildren: Nick Dolan, Colorado; Luke (Mary) Dolan, Ohio; Sam (Molly) Dolan, Marion; great grandchildren: Charlie, Jacob and Annie Dolan; sisters: Marsha (Bill) Devault, Arkansas; Mary (Allen) Glorvigen, Wisconsin; brother: Barry Crecelius, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Chuck Nolte in 2022.
