Rosalin Ondrashek, age 85, of Lawler, Iowa, died on Tuesday, December 02, 2025, near Jerico, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, Iowa, with Fr. Nick Radloff presiding. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, one hour prior to mass 9:30-10:30 a.m. The Rosary will be recited at 9:15 a.m. Burial will take place immediately after mass at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Protivin, Iowa. Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Rosalin Mary Holder, born February 10, 1940, to Raymond and Rita (Kruse) Holder, graduated from De Sales High School in Ossian, Iowa, in 1959. The following June of 1960, she was united in marriage with Lawrence Ondrashek at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ossian, Iowa. To this union five beloved children were born: Kevin, Charles, Roger, Marcia, and Sheila.
As a child Rosalin grew up on a farm near Ossian, Iowa, and helped her parents tend to the animals. When she married Lawrence, they farmed and she worked alongside her husband and cared for their home and children. Rosalin loved to get her hands in the dirt and spent many hours attending to her vegetable and flower gardens. When she wasn’t busy working in her garden, Rosalin made lefse around the holidays, met up with friends and family for coffee and a good chat, perfecting her hand at playing euchre, and was an avid bingo player. Rosalin was a devoted Catholic and attended Holy Trinity Parish in Protivin. She relished spending time with her family, and was especially fond of her grandchildren. She is remembered by her famous birthday phone calls when she would sing “Happy Birthday” to her loved ones on their special day.
Rosalin is survived by her four children: Charles (Jerri) Ondrashek, Roger Ondrashek, Marcia Nesvik, and Sheila (Don Hildahl) Klimesh; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her siblings Regine “Jeanie” Beer, Raymond (Sue) Holder, and Rachelle Phillips; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, son Kevin Ondrashek, son-in-law Rick Nesvik, sister Ruth Anne Moore, and her parents.
