WASHINGTON – Last month, Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa wrote to the State Department and Ms. Huma Abedin about her tenure at the State Department as a “Special Government Employee.” He received responses from the State Department and Ms. Abedin and made the following comment on the responses.
“The State Department says the federal government uses Special Government Employees ‘to provide services and expertise the executive agencies require.’ The purpose of my inquiry is to shed light on whether the program is being used as intended, not just by Ms. Abedin, but more broadly, as well. The State Department and Ms. Abedin should be willing to show the documents involved in administering the program to demonstrate good stewardship of tax dollars and the public interest. So far, the State Department and Ms. Abedin haven’t provided a single document that I requested. Putting up a stone wall raises a lot more questions about how the program is being used than it answers. I intend to pursue more complete answers to my questions.”
Grassley’s letters to the State Department and Ms. Abedin are available here and here. The State Department and Ms. Abedin’s responses are available here.
Oh big deal…this government is only spending $200 million a day more than it takes in…that’s every day of the week and Sat. and Sun. and holidays also…365 a year. Keep going Obama you’ll break us yet!
Grassley has his hand in the cookie jar too. Just Google Grassley Farms and see how much the old duffer stuffed in his pockets over the years in legal farm subsidies. Several million over three generations. There is plenty of blame to go around between both parties.
Wingnut!
