February 21, 1942 – November 24, 2025

Jim Belken, 83, of Alden, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025 at Scenic Manor. He will be laid to rest with a graveside service and inurnment at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery in Iowa Falls. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Iowa Falls is caring for Jimmy and his family.

Jimmy Frank Belken was born on February 21, 1942 in Iowa Falls, Iowa the second son of Maurice John (MJ) and Dorothy Mae (Fistler) Belken.

Jim graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1961. Following graduation, he served his country in the US Navy during Vietnam. He served as a dental tech in Memphis, TN. On Jim’s return from service, he met Mary Jo Sorensen of Alden. They were married on November 23, 1968 and made their home in Alden. To this thirty-year union two children were born: Jennifer Ann and Matthew John. Professionally, Jim chose a career in the trades following in the footsteps of his father. He was an ironworker, Local 67 out of Des Moines.

Later in life, Jim married Linda Stephenson. They enjoyed volunteering at St. Mark Catholic Church in Iowa Falls, cooking for and feeding as many people as possible. Jim was also a talented painter and woodworker, selling many of his creations at holiday craft shows around the area. He was a proud member of the Alden American Legion.

Jim Belken is survived by his children, Jennifer (John) Blackmon of Atlanta, GA and Matthew John “MJ” (Laura) Belken of Iowa Falls; grandchildren: John Finlay Blackmon, Jude Sorensen Blackmon and Lucy Belken Blackmon all of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Jerry Lee Belken.
