February 3, 1953 – November 12, 2025

Willie Howard Grant, 72, of Mason City, passed away on November 12, 2025. Willie was born on February 3, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Fred Grant and Maggie Lee Grant.

Willie lived a quiet and steady life centered around the people he loved most, his daughters, his family, and his close friends. Although he never married, his greatest joy in life came from being a father. He is survived by his daughters, Freddie Ramsay of Davenport, Iowa, and Garland Grant of Davenport, Iowa. Willie was also a proud grandfather to Raiden Pecoraro, Damion Offutt, Kingston Victor, Apollo Victor, and Frederick Victor III.

Family was always important to Willie. He is survived by his siblings Sylvester “Saney” Grant and his wife Theresea, Vernice Grant, and Tyrone Grant. He was preceded in death by his siblings OJ Houston, Freddie Mae Jefferies, Mary Alice Houston, and Patricia Grant-Johnson, and by his grandson Kingston Cedrick Victor.

Willie enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time with friends, watching movies, listening to music, and especially playing the guitar. Music was his lifelong passion. He enjoyed teaching others to play and sharing the joy he found in the rhythm and sound. Basketball was another pastime he enjoyed whether watching the game or shooting around casually.

Those who knew Willie would describe him as quiet and strong, a man who did not need many words to make his love known. He will be remembered for the deep love he held for his daughters and family and for the gift of music that he shared generously throughout his life.
