Dennis W. Peterson, age 72 formerly of Forest City, IA, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at the Westview Care Center in Britt, IA.
A visitation for Dennis will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Schott Funeral Homes in Forest City, IA. Private inurnment will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Forest City at a later date.
Dennis Wayne Peterson was born on December 23, 1952 in Belmond, IA to parents Roland and Clara Mae Peterson. The family moved frequently in the northern Iowa area growing up. Dennis graduated from Forest City High School in 1971.
Following school, Dennis began a career working for IMT in Garner for well over 35 years until his retirement. When Dennis wasn’t working, he enjoyed listening to music, creating many CDs for his family over the years in his own studio. He liked to tinker, fixing and repairing many things around the home. Dennis also enjoyed watching sports as well as the History Channel. Dennis was larger than life, both in stature and in personality. He enjoyed making people laugh, or getting under people’s skin! Dennis always did things his own way.
He is survived by his siblings, Duane Peterson of Forest City, Laura Peterson of Forest City, and Leon Peterson of Forest City; sister in-law, Jill Peterson of Marseille, IL; brother in-law, Gene Stenersen of Lake Mills; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and numerous other extended relatives and friends.
Dennis is preceded in death by both parents; siblings, Sondra Peterson, Shirley Stenerson, Karna Janssen, Roland (Lynn) Peterson, Lauren (ex wife, Janice) Peterson, Merlin Peterson, Delwyn Peterson, and Melvin Peterson; nephews, Michael Kane and Jeffrey Kane; and nieces, Korby Herzog, Shelley Kane, Heidi Kane, and Heather Davidson.
