CLEAR LAKE – A Clear Lake home near the downtown area was damaged by a fire this week.
The Clear Lake Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a fire in the basement of a residence at 2001 Main Avenue in Clear Lake on Tuesday morning, September 30, 2025, at 8:14 AM. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire in the laundry area of the basement level of a single-family home. The occupants had evacuated the house and removed a pet dog. The fire was extinguished quickly by fire crews, and the home was ventilated because of the smoke. Clear Lake Fire responded with an aerial ladder truck, one engine company, and 2 medic units with a total of 14 firefighters.
The fire was contained in that area of the basement. The cause was determined to have been from lint buildup in the vent of the clothes dryer being ignited by heat from the clothes dryer.
Damage is estimated at $7,500.
There were no injuries.
The home is owned by Kristin and James Winters.
The property is insured.
Assistance was received from the Clear Lake Police Department.
