Waterloo man found shot dead, suspect charged with premeditated murder

WATERLOO - Police in Waterloo found a man with gunshot injuries in a parking lot, but his life could not be saved, and now a suspect is in jail charged with felony murder.

WATERLOO – Police in Waterloo found a man with gunshot injuries in a parking lot, but his life could not be saved, and now a suspect is in jail charged with felony murder.

On Wednesday March 26, 2025, 9:59 PM Waterloo Police and Waterloo Fire Personnel were dispatched to Ryder Logistics at 2280 Northeast Drive on a report of a person who had been shot in the parking lot. When Police and Fire arrived, they located a male down and began lifesaving measures. The male was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Dipree Devante Jones of Waterloo, Iowa.

As a result of this death, Waterloo Detective have charged 21-year-old Martavious J’Qualin Reed of Waterloo Iowa with felony premeditated first-degree murder. He is held now in the Black Hawk county jail on $1 million bond.
