Two Northern Iowa residents killed in head-on crash

SPENCER, IOWA – A head-on auto crash claimed the life of two Northern Iowa residents.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on the afternoon of Friday, February 7, 2025, in Spencer, Iowa. At 12:47 PM that day, about a half-mile north of the intersection of US Highway 71 and US Highway 18, a Nissan Rogue and a Chevy Silverado collided head-on. Randall Scott Dykstra, age 70 of Everly, Iowa, was driving his 2007 Chevy Silverado northbound on Highway 71. At this same time and location, 45-year-old Bridget Lee Baird was driving her 2017 Nissan Rogue, traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 71. The vehciles collided in the northbound lane.

As a result, both drivers, who were both wearing seatbelts, were killed at the scene of the accident.
