The following is a legislative update from Republican State Senator Doug Campbell of Mason City, representing portions of Worth, Mitchell, Cerro Gordo and Floyd counties in Iowa Senate District 30:
The third week of session was a busy one, and we’re officially in full swing here at the Capitol! With a packed schedule of subcommittee meetings, important discussions, and new policy proposals, here’s a quick update on what’s happening:
Rally for Life
We started the week with the Rally for Life, where pro-life advocates gathered at the Capitol to celebrate the progress we’ve made in protecting the unborn. Iowa has been leading the charge in defending the right to life, and I’ll continue fighting for policies that uphold the dignity of every life.
National School Choice Week
Last week also marked National School Choice Week, a time to celebrate the strides we’ve made in expanding educational opportunities for Iowa families. Every child deserves the best education possible, and thanks to recent policies like open enrollment, education savings accounts, and expanded charter school options, more families now have the freedom to choose the right path for their students.
Cell Phones in Schools
Governor Kim Reynolds introduced policy language addressing cell phone use in classrooms. This is part of a bigger conversation on boosting student achievement, creating better learning environments, and ensuring our schools are preparing students for success.

Investing in Education
Senate Republicans rolled out a proposed $235 million increase in K-12 education funding for next year, bringing total state aid for schools to $4.2 billion. This is the same amount proposed by Governor Reynolds and continues our commitment to supporting students while maintaining responsible budgeting.
What This Means:
✔️ More resources for all Iowa students
✔️ Continued investment in school choice and student success
✔️ Maintaining Iowa’s conservative budgeting principles
There’s plenty of work ahead, and I’m committed to delivering results that matter to you. As always, my office is open—reach out anytime with your thoughts, concerns, or ideas!
Let’s keep Iowa moving forward.

Campbell is as fake as it gets. Cried like a bay when he lost his race. What a wimp
“I’ll continue fighting for policies that uphold the dignity of every life.” except if those people are members of the LGBTQ+ population or a minority.
feeling threatened?
You bet. If you don’t stand up against unjust actions and illegalities, who will be around when they come after me? I have friends in the LGBTQ+ community and friends who are minorities. They feel threatened by people like Campbell and so do I. I even would protest when he comes after you.
Doubt it
Don’t, count on it.
