MASON CITY – The following are the expenses paid by Cerro Gordo county and Board of Supervisor meeting minutes for the period ending on October 28, 2024:
PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS October 28, 2024
The Board of Supervisors of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, met in regular session pursuant to adjournment. Present: Chairperson Lori Meacham Ginapp, Vice Chairperson Chris Watts, Supervisor Casey Callanan, and various members of the public.
Chairperson Meacham Ginapp convened the meeting at 10:00 a.m.
Watts moved with Callanan seconding, to approve today’s agenda and minutes for the October 21, 2024 regular session.
Public comment session was held.
Callanan moved with Watts seconding, to approve claims. Motion passed unanimously.
Watts moved with Callanan seconding, to approve the payroll register for period ending 10/19/2024. Motion passed unanimously.
Callanan moved with Watts seconding, to authorize the Chair to sign Offer to Buy Real Estate with Brian S. Vold. Motion passed unanimously.
County Engineer Billings provided an update.
Chairperson Meacham Ginapp opened the public hearing for Conveyance of Interest in Real Estate to the City of Mason City, Iowa at 10:10 a.m.
Callanan moved with Watts seconding, to close the public hearing. Motion passed unanimously.
Watts moved with Callanan seconding, to adopt Resolution 2024-77, WHEREAS, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, is the owner of the following described real estate, to-wit:
LOT FIFTEEN (15) IN THE SUBDIVISION OF THE EAST HALF (E 1⁄2) OF THE SOUTHEAST QUARTER (SE 1⁄4) OF SECTION EIGHTEEN (18), TOWNSHIP NINETY-SIX (96) NORTH, RANGE TWENTY (20) WEST OF THE 5TH P.M. (the “Real Estate”); and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, adopted Resolution 2024-75, setting forth its proposal to convey the Real Estate and ordering public hearing upon the request of the City of Mason City (the “City”), to convey the Real Estate to the City for public right of way; and
WHEREAS, public hearing was held upon the proposal at 10:10 A.M. on the 28th day of October, 2024, following publication of notice of hearing as required by law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa:
1. The conveyance of following described real estate to the City of Mason City, Iowa, an Iowa municipal corporation, is hereby approved:
LOT FIFTEEN (15) IN THE SUBDIVISION OF THE EAST HALF (E 1⁄2) OF THE SOUTHEAST QUARTER (SE 1⁄4) OF SECTION EIGHTEEN (18), TOWNSHIP NINETY-SIX (96) NORTH, RANGE TWENTY (20) WEST OF THE 5TH P.M.
2. The Chairperson of the Board of Supervisors and the Deputy Cerro Gordo County Auditor shall be and they are hereby authorized and directed to take all action necessary to complete the conveyance, including, but not limited to, executing and delivering a Quit Claim Deed subject to a negative easement to restrict use of the Real Estate to public right of way.
3. The County shall record at City’s expense the Resolution Setting Forth the Proposal to Convey Interest in Real Estate, the Proof of Publication of Notice of Hearing; the Resolution Approving the Conveyance of Interest in Real Estate. The recorded Resolutions and Proof of Publication shall be retained by County following recording with its official records. The Quit Claim Deed shall be delivered to the City.

The Board of Supervisors joined with Hancock County and Franklin County via phone at 10:15 a.m. for the Joint
Drainage District 1-31-86 Main Open Ditch Tree Removal Project.
Watts moved with Franklin County seconding, to accept the plans and specifications, schedule the opening of bids for the project for November 15, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Boardroom, and schedule the date for consideration of bids for November 18, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Motion passed unanimously.
Callanan moved with Watts seconding, to adjourn at 10:32 a.m. Motion passed unanimously.
