CHARLES CITY – A Charles City woman already awaiting court on a felony drunk driving case was stopped and arrested for drunk driving.
According to the Charles City police department, officers conducted a traffic stop on August 31, 2024, at 9:38 PM, in the 300 block of B Street. After an investigation, 44-year-old Melody Christine Starbuck of Charles City was arrested for third-offense operating while intoxicated (D FELONY), driving while barred and driving without a valid driver’s license.
Starbuck (pictured at top) is awaiting a plea hearing on September 20, 2024, in connection to her arrest on September 4, 2023, by the Floyd county sheriff’s office, on charges of third-offense operating while intoxicated (FELONY D) and driving while barred.
Starbuck was nabbed by Iowa State Patrol troopers in May of 2023 in Bremer county for second-offense drunk driving. In her January 2024 plea deal, a judge put her on probation for at least a year, and ave her only $500 in court costs – no fine. On September 3, 2024, a probation violation report has been filed on Starbuck. She had been caught earlier on 2023 in Polk county for drunk driving and was ordered to pay $3603.56 in court fees, fines and more. Records show she owes the entire amount. She was also placed on probation – which is up for violation – and was given a 2-year-suspended prison sentence.
