Northern Iowa man loses life after struck by drunk driver

FILLMORE COUNTY, MN – A Northern Iowa man was killed while on a rural Minnesota road this weekend when police say a drunk driver ran him down.

Fillmore County Sheriff John DeGeorge has reported that a 911 call was recived early Sunday morning about a person laying on a county road near Granger, Minnesota. At the scene, 23-year-old Cale Jackson of Cresco, Iowa, was found, and it appeared he had been hit a by a vehicle.

After an investigation, 50-year-old Brian Wayne Nelson (pictured at top via the jail) of Harmony, Minnesota, was arrested at the scene on a charge of Criminal Vehicular Homicide. Nelson remains held at the Fillmore County Jail and will soon face a judge.
