DES MOINES – Today, Gov. Kim Reynolds hosted the 2024 Iowa Teacher of the Year, Ann Mincks, and her students to honor her work improving literacy outcomes. Mincks is an English Language Learner (ELL) teacher at Hoover High School in Des Moines. The award recognizes her work utilizing evidence-based literacy practices to improve literacy and support students in achieving their highest reading level possible.

“Ann is an exceptional teacher. By providing her students the skills necessary to achieve literacy, she is creating a foundation for them to thrive in school, work, and life,” said Gov. Kim Reynolds. “Strong literacy skills are critical for all students, and I look forward to the positive impact Ann’s advocacy will have for teachers and students across our state.”

Gov. Kim Reynolds also signed a proclamation to commemorate Mincks as the 2024 Iowa Teacher of the Year.

  1. Another one of those teachers with a sinister agenda and intent on indoctrinating children. Surprised she didn’t pick a private school teacher.

      1. Then she is really doing a heck of a job. Won’t see any private schools reporting on how ELL students are doing.
