CEDAR RAPIDS – A man wanted for murder in Iowa was nabbed by U.S. Marshals in Gary, Indiana.
Denzel Demarco Wilson, 23, is wanted in connection to the June 11 shooting in south east Cedar Rapids, Iowa, leaving one dead. Wilson is wanted in Linn County, Iowa, on charges of murder in the first-degree, use of a dangerous weapon in the commission of crime, going armed with intent, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
On June 15th, investigators with the Cedar Rapids Police Department contacted the Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force requesting assistance in the location and apprehension of Wilson. Task Force officers began to follow up on leads throughout Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Information was developed indicating Walker had fled the state when officials began coordinating with multiple U.S. Marshal fugitive task forces outside of Iowa. In early August, U.S. Marshals established a likely location for Wilson and began coordinating with the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force in Northern Indiana.
Officers with the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force today narrowed their search to an address in the 4000 block of Van Buren St in Gary, Indiana. U.S. Marshals approached a residence shortly after 8:00a.m. where Wilson (pictured, above, via FBI) eventually surrendered to the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force. Wilson was arrested without incident and transported to the Lake County Indiana Jail for processing. Wilson will remain in custody until extradition to Iowa.
