Lost boy found safe in Algona

ALGONA – A lost boy was found safe in Algona after a police canine search.

On July 29, 2021 at 9:04 PM, the Kossuth County Sheriffs Office received a call from 1307 140th Ave, the residence of James and Lisa Rotert, of a lost or missing 3 year old boy. The child was last seen by family members playing outside right before dark.

Kossuth County Deputies Jake Radmaker and Melissa Hoch responded to the scene. Assistance was requested from on duty Officer Ben Gatton and K-9 Officer Puma of the Algona Police Department to help find the child. Deputies secured the area the child was last seen and K-9 Puma tracked and located the child within minutes amongst some evergreen trees on the acreage. The child was safe and morn and dad were grateful for the quick response and teamwork from the officers and K-9.

The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Algona Police Department.
