Mason City fire department investigates brush fire

MASON CITY – The Mason City fire department is investigating a brush fire.

On April 22, 2020 at 8:59 PM, the Mason City Fire Department responded to a brush pile on fire in the area of the 1300 block of Elm Drive.

A large waste brush pile used by the City of Mason City was on fire when the Fire Department arrived on scene. Fire Department Staff controlled fire growth with hose lines but allowed fire to burn down. City staff remained on scene to monitor fire and city staff will continue to monitor the debris pile. The debris pile will continue to smolder for several days.

The fire is still under investigation.

Somebody knows what lighted this stuff yes

So, I can allow a brush pile to ‘SMOLDER’ for several days and no big deal, or will the city try and raep me with fines?

Except for a “recreational fire” you cant burn anything. So yes they could possibly raep you.

Spontaneous combustion.
