DES MOINES – Those injured on the job could face reduced benefits if a new law in Iowa is passed.
The bill, HSB169, overhauls the Iowa Worker Compensation System with cuts to workers’ compensation benefits for workers injured on the job.
Press Conferences were held this week by labor supporters in Sioux City and elsewhere to discuss the proposed legislation and share information on HSB 169 and ways that it may affect working families.
Democrats and supporters of labor say the bill was “introduced by the Republican majority in the Iowa House of Representatives. It essentially strips away safeguards from employees who get injured on the job.
“Public sector Iowans were attacked by the gutting of collective bargaining, and this puts further strain and stress on working families here in Iowa.”
The bill remains in subcommittee at this time.

Republicans are always about austerity, humility, servitude, EXCEPT when it comes to themselves.
Hopefully some new laws can tighten the reigns on un-employment claims as well. Slimeballs can practically get away with murder.
Hope you never get hurt at your job and expect help!!
The have to do this to counter all the fake claims by democrats.
You and your hate is what is wrong with America.
And, this from a intolerant Democrats who is lying about Trump and rioting all over the country just like a spoiled brat child who didn’t get their way and is going to pout and whine and cry just like the adolescent children they are.
You are helping me prove my point that you and your hate is what is wrong with America. Try posting without your hatefulness.
That is the only way to make America great again.
Up yours.
Can you enlighten us, as to which part of that statement is hateful?
Sure can, the part where she accuses someone else of being hateful.
Claim your an illegal and you can get every thing FREE from the liberal democrats – if not they will find a way by bribing someone ( usually a county supervisor or mayor).
You bet, the republicans are looking out for the average Iowan. You all thought the anti union republican vote would not effect you but just hope you don’t get hurt on the job. They are taking away workers rights one at a time until they are all gone.
