ESTHERVILLE – An Estherville couple was arrested recently after an investigation showed they exposed two young children to the dangerous drug methamphetamine.
On January 30, 2017, the Estherville Police Department arrested 25-year-old Jereca Schroder of Estherville on two outstanding arrest warrants. As a result of an ongoing investigation, Schroder was charged with neglect of a dependent person, a class “C” felony and child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor. Estherville Police also charged 25-year-old Cody Brown of Estherville with neglect of a dependent person and child endangerment.
The charges stem from an investigation with the Iowa Department of Human Services. During the investigation, it was discovered that the couple exposed their two children ages 3 and 5 to Methamphetamine.
Schroder appeared in front of a Magistrate and was released on a $10,000 signature bond and Brown appeared in front of a Magistrate and was given a $2000 cash bond. Brown is currently being held in the Emmet County Jail on previous charges of Robbery 2nd degree as well as Domestic Abuse Assault.
The children were removed by the Department of Human Services. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
