Iowa man and woman dead after auto accident

logo-iowa-state-patrolDAYTON, IA – A man and woman were killed and two people were injured in a crash in Webster county Friday morning.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, on Friday, May 8 at about 8:45 AM, a Ford F250 driven by 19-year-old Colten Bills of Dayton failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 175 and Samson Avenue, just southeast of Dayton in Webster county. His truck then struck a 2001 Ford Taurus driven by 56-year-old David Castenson of Harcourt, Iowa.

Castenson was killed in the collision. His passenger, 85-yer-old Velma Castenson of Dayton was injured. Also injured was Bills. Both injured persons were taken to area hospitals. It was reported later that Velma Castenson also passed away as a result of the accident.

Charges are pending and the accident remains under investigation.

Bills has been charged this year with drunk driving in Story county, court records show. The charge was later dropped.

Two lives are gone because of a careless teenager. Should have already had his license pulled. Seriously how does one get two DUI’s within months of each other and continue to drive? I know one was dismissed but it’s ridiculous. Not to mention that intersection is visible for miles. He had NO intentions of stopping going from gravel over a Highway to another gravel. This should have been prevented and no matter the court result – lives can’t be replaced and I’m sure he doesn’t realize the…

… impact he’s placed on the friends and family. RIP Dave & Velma. This should not have happened.

Wonder how his court date turned out today? Have they charged him with anything yet for the accident?

If he had a deferred judgment on May 20th and the April allegation was dismissed, then what was the charge for the June 2 court date? Was it a third under the influence offense?

What is a guy like this doing on the roads?? Lock him up and throw away the keys.

He has no respect for anyone else on the road. 2 drunk driving incidents and 2 people dead because of him within 48 days. its senseless.

Vehicular manslaughter is the only appropriate charge for that over privileged punk.

He should get life in prison.

Agreed
