HAMPTON – The Bluegrass Music Association of Iowa (BMAI) will continue the Hampton Bluegrass Festival after another event producer decided to discontinue hosting the annual event. The 1st Annual BMAI Hampton Bluegrass Festival will be held at the Franklin County Fairgrounds on May 7, 8, and 9, 2015 in Hampton, Iowa. This event under new management will provide a full weekend of toe-tapping, soul stirring music for families and people of all ages.
To kick off the event on Wednesday May 6th, BMAI wants to invite everyone out for a potluck dinner beginning at 6pm with an open jam session to follow. Bring a covered dish, table service and drink, lawn chair, acoustic instrument, and toes to tap along with the music. There is no admission charge on Wednesday evening but a free will donation is appreciated.
Band performances will begin on Thursday May 7, 2015 with our Gospel night. Bands scheduled to perform are: Iowa bands Cedar Valley Bluegrass on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Castleridge on Thursday and Friday, Highway Home on Thursday only, and duo Dale Eichor and Bobby Awe on Saturday only. Two other bands from Minnesota will also be featured: The Platte Valley Boys and No Grass Limit, both performing on Friday and Saturday. Also performing on Friday and Saturday is Missouri based family group, The Sterlings. The show will be held inside the convention center building rain or shine.
Camping is available with over 200 electrical outlets and a dump station on the grounds. Food concessions will be provided by the Franklin County Fairgrounds. In addition to the stage performances jamming is highly encouraged and welcomed at this event to our attendees. Instrument workshops will be held throughout the weekend.
