CHARLES CITY – Two semi-trucks collided in Charles City yesterday, causing thousands of dollars in damages.

According to Charles city police, at about noon on August 21, officers were sent to investigate a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 18 and Kelly Street in the downtown area. At the scene, a 2014 Freightliner truck riven by 30-year-old Matthew Haugen of St. Ansgar was waiting for a vehicle in front of him that was also waiting to turn when his truck was struck from the rear by a 1998 Feightliner truck driven by 33-year-old Bryant Baker of Aurora, Iowa. The estimated damage from the collision was around $10,000.

Baker was cited for failure to maintain control.
