MASON CITY – A homeless man laying face down in the grass outside a Mason City hotel was arrested after a concerned citizen called 911.

Police responded to the Days Inn hotel, located at 2301 4th Street SW, at about 1:14 PM Monday, for an unresponsive male laying face down in the grass behind the building. As police arrived, the male subject, later identified as 41-year-old Travis Jon Waslick of Mason City with no permanent address, got up and ran from the scene. Fire medics were also dispatched to the scene. A female who was with Waslick was not cooperative with investigating officers.

Waslick was stopped and identified as a wanted individual and arrested on two warrants. He had failed to appear in court on a charge of drug possession and driving while barred. He is still being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $3,000 cash-only bond.
