AMES – The Iowa State wrestling team (6-2 overall, 1-1 Big 12) welcomes Rutgers (9-2 overall, 6-0 EIWA) to Hilton Coliseum for the first time in school history Friday night at 7 p.m. CDT.
All Iowa State students are invited to attend at no cost. Simply present your ISUCard at the door and receive complimentary general admission seating. Free t-shirts will be handed out to the first students through the doors.
The Scarlet Knights bring a 9-2 overall record and a perfect 6-0 conference record into Friday night’s dual. Head coach Scott Goodale leads Rutgers. He is 101-33-1 in seven seasons at the helm. Rutgers has one ranked wrestler. Heavyweight Billy Smith is No. 17 in the latest InterMat poll. Smith is 16-5 this season with four of his losses coming to ranked wrestlers.
Iowa State was handed it’s first Big 12 loss of the season last Sunday, as it fell 27-11 to No. 4 Oklahoma.
All-American Kyven Gadson will be putting a 22-match dual win streak on the line. He is 22-0 in duals the last two seasons. Gadson debuted as the consensus No. 2 wrestler in the country in the national rankings this week for the first time.
