Head-on collision in Nora Springs injures three

NORA SPRINGS – The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle collision with injuries that took place Thursday, July 18th at about noon.

A 1999 Saab driven by a James Dalton Sliger, age 17 of Nora Springs collided with a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup driven by a Duane Allen Patterson, age 59 of Saint Ansgar, IA.  Marilyn Ann Rockafellow, age 81 was a passenger in Patterson’s pickup.

Sliger was Eastbound on 265th Street just West of S-70 in rural Nora Springs and Patterson was Westbound on 265th Street.  Sliger crossed over the center line of the road on the bridge and was struck head on by Patterson.  Both vehicles received major totaling damage and both came to rest along the guardrails of the bridge.

All occupants were transported to Mercy Medical Center by Nora Springs Ambulance and Mason City Fire Medics for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision.  Their condition is unknown at this time.

James Sliger was cited for driving on the wrong side of a two-lane highway.
