Tailgating at a football game is a great time, without question. The problem with it as I see in this case that has been mentioned is the blood-alcohol level of these people. We aren’t talking .01-.10 where that is a pretty safe and fun buzz when you aren’t driving…..These idiots were out of their mind drunk….blowing .17 and over .2. These people couldn’t stand, 1 guy was vomiting on people in the stands, and according to the article some woman was carrying another guy out by his britches because he was so hammered. People that are this intoxicated are both a danger to themselves and to others. They deserve to go to jail, and the moron that puked on people should by everyone he ralphed on a new coat or Iowa Hawkeye t-shirt.
@Ben-unfortunately, alcohol abuse is as big a problem as drug abuse. Anyone who doesn’t believe that needs to look at the jail roster and see all the public intox and drunk drivers in jail. Both abuses are big money for the government and life killers. People just do not realize how much it will cost them and in a lot of cases it keeps them from getting better jobs.
Freedom means we have the right to make bad choices. There, I said it.
@SUCKS-what you really mean is you have a right to be a dredge on society. There I said it too drugger.
‘Out of their mind drunk’ … love that stage … almost as fun as ‘im piss drunk in the op and they wont serve me anymore’
I’m just wondering, since I don’t think that I have ever been there. How can anyone be having fun when they can blow a 210. Maybe he’s not killing anybody else, but possibly killing himself. Oh, and big brother says that against the law to. The first step to a cure, is admitting that you have a problem. That’s not against the law, it just makes you look bad. I don’t want the federal, state, county, municipal government telling me what to do, any more then anybody else. But, because humans can’t be responsible for their own actions, somebody has to be. Try to imagine if there were no laws/rules, I doubt this site would be here. It’s all about common sense, and personal responsibility, which unfortunately, a lot of humans don’t have…
Im sorry Sad I over reacted. I just feel that most people that drink also drive and myself wouldnt want to hurt some innocent family for my drunken/drugged fun. Again sorry for the comment.
Didn’t Iowa take the honors of the number one drinking college in the US this year
@Joe-they didn’t call it drinking college but they did call it No. 1 Party School.
Did it say any of these people were drinking and driving? I missed that. These are people having a good time at a football game, you and Allen have the cops saving the world. They did not, they just put a little more money in the state coffers, thats what it is all about.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA AHHHHHH your so funny “sad”.I dont need the law as I really dont do much wrong but if you ever drive drunk and run into me and I survive I will hunt you down and run your sad ass over until there is nothin left. Not a threat its a promise
Allen & USMC, just get in your house lock your doors, hide under the bed, and have a great life. Are you afraid of everything and everybody?
People can drink without harming you or themselves.
Not everybody needs cops to survive
Most of these people were not students according to the ages. good job police these people were drunk and they might of killed someone assuming they were going to drive home
You will assimilate into “good Iowans” as the prime directive. YOU will not party. You will not have sex outside of marriage. You will NOT use cannabis even if you’re dying. You WILL go to the church of your choosing. YOU WILL assimilate or we, the state will destroy you. What is freedom you ask? Freedom is what we say it is. You will not on SSI without a 3 year fight. You will go to prison if you break the law, because it leaves more jobs for the good Iowans. You will pay your fines to the state. You will not smile without state approval. All leaders of said state are exempt from these rules. The ruling class will always be treated different than the masses. You will party inside your homes only and are subject to searches. You will assimilate or get the hell out.
Iowa, a place to grow,
Arresting people for drinking at a football game… That’s like fishing with dynamite. You’re right, just a fundraiser, like everything anymore. No warnings or help.
From the numbers that were blown, it’s quite possible the the UI police saved someones life by the arrests that were made, good work.
Only in Amerika Comrade.
People drinking at a football game? What has this world come to?
Not a big deal, just a fund raiser for the cops! Thats why I no longer go to Iowa city. Red light cameras in Cedar Rapids, cops running all over campus in Iowa City, waiting to bust anybody having any kind of fun.
Sad to live in a police state in a socialist country.
Good points. Used to be the cops would give you a ride home, now they throw the book at you. I pity the future of the American Republic.
