MARSHALLTOWN – The NIACC volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the Marshalltown Invitational on Friday.
Allen Community College (Kan.) topped NIACC 25-22, 26-24, 25-15. Neosho Community College stopped the Lady Trojans 25-9, 25-15, 25-17.
“We played back-to-back very intense matches,” NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. “We played well and continued to battle every point. Both opponents were very tough but this was the first time our team had to play against an extremely fast-tempo offense from the Neosho team.
“It took us a set to respond, but our defense did a great job of making positive changes.”
Freshman Jessica Balek led NIACC (7-7 overall) with 15 kills. Sophomore LaShae Brooks had eight kills and five blocks.
Also, Caitlyn Hanig had four kills, 19 digs and eight blocks. Heather Danburg had 20 assists.
